Primary Classes

In pre-k and kindergarten, students will practice basic concepts of math, reading, phonics, and writing.  The students will also be exposed to the Catholic faith through hands-on activities, as well as class prayers.

Pre-K and kindergarten provides children with an opportunity to learn and practice the essential social, emotional, problem-solving, and study skills that they will use throughout the year.  Everything is taught in various different teaching methods using play, singing, and practical activities.

Math - students will be able to recognize and name shapes, sort objects, create patterns, and describe concept of time.

Reading - students will understand print, recognize uppercase and lowercase letters, recognize sight words, and the basic elements of story like title, author, and main ideas.

Phonics - students will be able to recognize    ending sounds, blend words into words, and recognize rhyming words.

Writing - students will form letters correctly and use left to right direction in writing.

Religion - students will be able to demonstrate knowledge of God through word and action, respond to Bible stories, and participate in prayer

By the end of the year, students will be able to follow directions and work independently. They will be able to hold a crayon and pencil correctly, as well as be able to use scissors safely and cut along a straight line.  The children should be able to speak clearly, while making eye contact, as well as speak in complete sentences and ask appropriate questions.

My name is Courtney Lemos and I am the first grade teacher at Little Flower! This is my fourth
year at LFCS. First grade is a very important year in your child’s life. We will focus on building
the foundation on which everything else will be built. Developing good listening skills and
learning how to become an organized and focused student is key! In first grade, your student
will develop their reading and writing skills and a passion for reading. In math, your child will
learn addition and subtraction facts through 20, number patterns, place value, how to problem
solve, shapes and figures, and different types of measurement. We will attend school Mass
once a week. Our Religion instruction in the classroom will focus on what it means to be a
follower of Jesus. I look forward to a busy year filled with lots of learning and spiritual and
educational growth!

My mission for my students is to bring them closer to Jesus through Mary, Mother of the Eucharist. To prepare to receive Jesus in the Most Holy Eucharist and imprint in their hearts that the Bread and Wine is truly the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. 

My name is Miss Chiappetta, I am currently pursuing my Masters in Education through the Notre Dame Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE) Program and am so excited to be teaching at Little Flower this year. I began attending Catholic school in 3rd grade and know how impactful it can be for a student not only academically, but personally as well. 

Throughout this year in 3rd grade, we will be reading lots of books from our classroom library to increase literacy and a love of reading, learning foundational math facts including times tables up to 12, and hopefully become saints in training on the way. It will be a busy but fun year and I am excited to see how our class GROWs over the school year!

This is my second year at Little Flower.  I teach 4th grade.  I hope to instill a love of learning in my students.  I will motivate and challenge them to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.

Entering my 3rd year as a full time teacher, I believe the classroom should be a place where students can come to feel at home in a learning environment. Education is a life-long journey. My goal is to spark or maintain interests in the learning process while providing access to new information and protocols. Developing accountability and diligent study habits will allow the student to progress and advance their level of retention. As a former athlete, I try to bring energy, patience, and a positive attitude into my teaching process, constantly promoting the value of working as a team and supporting each other across the finish line.
